Choose a Major or Training Program
Choose a major or training program that matches your personality. Research and common sense show it is vital.
Follow the steps described here. They are based on scientific research and career counseling's best practices.
Four Steps to a Good Match and Decision
First: Take a valid career interest test like The Career Key. Sadly, invalid measures are promoted widely on the Internet, and a surprising number of counselors and educators use them -- like the O*Net Interest Profiler– pseudo-measures like these can harm you.
With the Career Key you measure your strength in six interest areas, called the Holland personality types or “Holland Codes”: Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional.
Second: Identify the majors or instructional programs that match your strongest personality types.
