Career Counseling, Education Counseling
Going to a professional counselor can be quite helpful. We recommend it highly.
Unfortunately, however, anyone can call themselves a "counselor" or "career counselor". You want to get one who is professionally trained.
If you are a student, you will likely have access to a trained counselor at your school or college. Whether you are a student or not, go to the National Career Development Association's website. It's an excellent source. Under the heading and drop down menu "Find a Counselor" you will find several articles of interest.
Click on Counselor -- to learn what they do, areas of specialization, training, job outlook, and earnings.
Another excellent source is Counselor Find at the National Board for Certified Counselors website. There you can locate a professional counselor by area of practice and location.
